All three students who sat for the Pharmacy Technician National
Exam in February passed. Congratulations to Wayne Keener, Brianna
Geraldon and Tamara Burrell. Also, Pharmacy Tech’s newest
grads hired at their intern sites are Tamara Burrell, Wayne Keener
and April Karbs. Congraulations and Way to Go!
And the most exciting of all!!! ----- On February 26 a bill was introduced
to congress that will mandate national certification for pharmacy technicians
in all states nationwide! It is called the Pharmacy Technician
Training and Registration Act of 2008, or Emily’s Act, which
is named after 2-year-old Emily Jerry who died after a pharmacy technician
incorrectly prepared her chemotherapy dose. The bill will require
all states to register pharmacy technicians and have them pass the
National Pharmacy Technician Board Certification Exam which triggers
mandatory continuing education and renewal every two years. The
bill is in the first step of the legislative process, and I will keep
up with it’s progress. Anyone can read the entire bill
