Pharmacy Technician
The Pharmacy Technician Program consists of lectures, lab, and externship
training. Students completing the course will be proficient in the
aseptic compounding of I.V. admixture
products, unit dosage and solution preparations, medical and pharmaceutical
terminology, pharmaceutical mathematics, pharmaceutical chemistry,
handling and storage of medications, drug distribution systems and
pharmacy record keeping.
Upon successful
completion of the Pharmacy Technician Program, graduates will be able to perform
entry-level duties in hospitals, home health-care centers, and retail pharmacy
settings.
(Dallas campus: Texas State Board of Pharmacy requires pharmacy technician
students to register with the state as a “technician trainee” prior
to beginning externship). Students receive certification through the National
Certified Pharmacy Technician Board.
This program is currently offered at the following campuses only: Tulsa, Central
OKC Dallas, and Lawton.
